Marty McCorkle, Fine Artist Born in 1965, Los Angeles, California, USA. Artist’s StatementPainting excites and tickles me. I love painting and put a lot of energy, experiment and innovation into art.I often combine painting with digital imagery in ways that open painting to unexplored realms that defy the standard art lexicon. ‘Deconstructive painting’ may be a useful term to describe my work. I seek to depict our perception’s choppy, fragmentary nature over which the mind endlessly insists on apply a fiction of order. I frequently dismantle form to minimal shapes, colors and lines. I’m delighted blending traditional oil painting and modern digital media. High art and pedestrian electronica never mix properly, fighting one another for visual footing on the canvas’ stage; their conflict dissolves the fiction that some barrier exists between representational or abstract/non-objective art. Despite a grave insistence to the contrary, painting is very much alive in our hands, a new generation that welcomes inspiration from cinema, digital software, mathematics, and other often ignored visual sources to give painting a new say in bright, fresh ways that elude art language’s often backward looking descriptions. In short, I apply deconstructionism not only to depicted subjects and concepts, but to the fragile dogmas of painting itself. I have painted since my early teens and currently paint in our Philippines studio on a full time basis. Esteban Sabar, my spouse and art agent, actively supports my painting by promoting and selling my work to collectors around the world. |
